“Way Too Good for Facebook or MySpace?”
As many of you may know, I was quoted from an interview with BusinessWeek in an article published on August 22, 2007 regarding my views of the social networking service known as “A Small World.” I would like to personally communicate that the article published was not a fair representation of my interview nor was it kept in the context in which the information was originally delivered during my Q & A session with BusinessWeek.
I am personally disappointed with BusinessWeek’s non-compliance with standard journalistic principals and ethics as they are some of the central guidelines and protections afforded by the 1st amendment. I also feel that it was very unprofessional of the author to manipulate the information in my interview to comply with the intended slant and direction of the article.
I would like to personally clarify two of the direct quotes notated in the article. Both quotes ("A lot of social-networking sites are very low-quality," & “The type of individuals that are on these social-networking sites are generally not well-networked themselves." ) were taken out of their original context and discussion regarding my view that social networks such as Facebook and MySpace are not well-suited for business networking because they have a different functional purpose. This was part of a much larger discussion regarding the uniqueness of “A Small World” with its focus on high-level managed business networking.
The additional misleading notations around my direct quotes are the creation of the author, as I never mentioned anything in this regard during the interview. I would like the public to know that I am a very down-to-earth person who cares deeply about others. I am not the pompas aristocratic entity this article portrays me as.
As always, I welcome any direct communication with the public or press regarding this matter as I am fully committed to the rightful and truthful representation of my interview and of my character. If anyone would like to discuss this further or if I can clarify any statements made please feel free to contact me directly using SiloIQ’s contact info/page.
Best regards,

PS: You can find me on both FaceBook and Myspace ;) I just do not use them for business purposes.
